Our client a leading Health Services Provider is on the market for an Optometrist to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Optometry business, including expansion. This leadership role includes managing daily operations at the optical sites, managing staff and resources, maintaining budgetary and inventory controls, and ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulations while maintaining the highest level of customer service. Applicants must have at least 2 years' experience working in the eye care field, strong communication skills and the ability to multitask.
REPORTING TO THE GENERAL MANAGER, THE POSITION WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
1. Documenting history including complaint and relevant symptoms, ocular health, medication usage,
medical and family history, current vision aide if applicable, and any other pertinent data.
2. Examining eyes using observation, pharmaceutical agents and instruments to determine visual
perception, acuity, coordination and focus.
3. Examining eyes and visual system, diagnose problems or impairments, prescribe corrective lenses, and
provide treatment.
4. Analyzing test results and develop/implement a management plan; prescribe, supply, fit and adjust
eyeglasses, contact lenses and other vision aids.
5. Educating and counseling patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements and safety
factors.
6. Consulting with and refer patients to ophthalmologist or other health care practitioner if additional
medical treatment as appropriate.
7. Prescribing therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision.
8. Providing vision therapy and low vision rehabilitation
9. Organizing outreach services and perform other official duties that may be assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor of Science in Optometry degree.
• At least 2 years post qualification experience working in a hospital or an eye clinic.
• The candidate should be registered with Pharmacist Council of Zimbabwe and must have a current
Practicing Certificate.
