Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Geologist to join their operations team. This role is critical to ensuring effective grade control, resource evaluation, and drilling programme management within a dynamic gold mining environment. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, field experience, and analytical skills to support efficient production and maximize resource recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grade control: Implement and monitor grade control systems to ensure accurate ore extraction and minimize dilution.
- Mining geology: Provide geological input to daily mining operations, including mapping, sampling, and reconciliation of ore blocks.
- Drilling programmes: Plan, supervise, and evaluate drilling programmes to support resource definition and production targets.
- Data management: Collect, analyze, and interpret geological data to guide production decisions.
- Software application: Utilize geological software (QGIS, Surpac, Leapfrog) for modeling, mapping, and reporting.
- Reporting: Prepare clear and concise daily, weekly, and monthly reports to support operational planning and evaluation.
- Safety compliance: Ensure all geological activities adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mining environment.
- Proven expertise in mining geology, grade control, and drilling programme management.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and geological software (QGIS, Surpac, Leapfrog).
- Solid understanding of structural controls on mineralization and ore body modeling.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively in challenging mining environments.
- Class 4 driver’s license is an added advantage but not a prerequisite.
