Underground Engineering Foreman

Our client, a leading gold mining operation, is seeking to engage an Underground Engineer Foreman to join their team. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising underground engineering activities, ensuring safe and efficient operations, and driving continuous improvement in line with production and safety targets.

Main Purpose of the Role
To lead and coordinate underground engineering teams, oversee maintenance and installation of mining equipment, and ensure compliance with safety, production, and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise engineering crews to achieve production and safety targets.
- Coordinate underground operations including equipment installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Develop work schedules and allocate resources for underground engineering tasks.
- Conduct inspections on equipment, support systems, and ventilation to ensure compliance with standards.
- Monitor safety protocols and enforce adherence to occupational health and safety regulations.
- Track equipment performance and recommend improvements or replacements.
- Maintain accurate records for payroll, production, and maintenance reporting.
- Conduct team meetings and provide ongoing coaching and technical guidance.
- Prepare engineering and production reports including downtime analysis and improvement recommendations.
- Drive continuous improvement in underground engineering practices.

Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ underground mining experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of gold mining processes and underground engineering practices.
- Valid blasting license or equivalent certification is a must.
