Our client is seeking to appoint a Managing Director who will spearhead the strategic launch and long-term growth of the firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the investment philosophy, driving capital-raising initiatives, and ensuring full compliance with the regulatory frameworks of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe (SECZ) and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ). This is a senior leadership role requiring vision, execution, and deep market insight. The ideal candidate will bring 10–15 years of experience in financial services, including at least 5 years in senior leadership positions within asset management, corporate advisory, or investment banking. A proven track record in equity valuation, capital structuring, and executing complex advisory mandates is essential. Candidates must also demonstrate a strong understanding of the Zimbabwean macroeconomic environment and possess established relationships with local institutional investors.

Key Responsibilities

- Strategic Leadership: Design and execute the 5-year strategic roadmap, including operational infrastructure and licensing.
- Capital Raising: Lead efforts to attract Assets Under Management (AUM) from institutional investors and High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs).
- Investment Oversight: Oversee the development of products such as Unit Trusts, Discretionary Portfolios, and Private Equity funds.
- Asset Allocation: Guide research into ZSE/VFEX-listed companies, leveraging expertise in equities or corporate advisory.
- Risk & Compliance: Implement strategies to mitigate currency volatility and ensure full adherence to AML and KYC protocols.
- Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and Compliance Officers.

Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a closely related discipline is essential.
- A Master’s degree (MBA or MSc in Finance/Economics/Investment Management) is strongly preferred, reflecting the strategic and leadership nature of the role.
- Professional certifications such as CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), or CIS (Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment) are highly desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of investment management, portfolio construction, and capital markets is required.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (SECZ, RBZ) and compliance standards is advantageous.
- Continuous professional development in risk management, corporate governance, and financial strategy is expected.
