A well-established hardware store is looking to engage a buyer. This role reports directly to the General Manager. The incumbent must have a Degree in Supply Chain Management, Retail & Buying or Business Administration and at least a 3 - 5 years proven working experience as a Hardware Buyer. Should also have strong analytical, negotiating and deal closing skills and knowledge of and sourcing techniques. Experience in Retail and or Wholesale operations is pre-requisite.
Duties for this role include:-
- Negotiating all aspects of buying (hardware only) which encompasses supplier listing, pricing, promotions and ranging with all Suppliers within the established parameters of the company policies.
- Providing service levels and sales to various branches as pre-determined by management whilst maintaining profit and stock levels as budgeted in the branches by listing all new products within their proper categories and advising all branches within the best possible time.
- Managing shelf prices
- Crafting and executing winning trade promotions, with supplier collaborations
- Maintaining appropriate supplier relationships
