Business Development Representative

Our Client In The FMCG Sector Is Looking To Hire A Business Development Representative. The Business Development Representative – Informal Trade Shall Be Responsible For Driving Sales Growth, Expanding Market Penetration, And Increasing Product Visibility Within Zimbabwe’s Informal Retail Sector. This Role Focuses On Identifying New Trading Opportunities, Building Strong Relationships With Traders And Wholesalers, Supporting Distributor Execution, And Gathering Real-Time Market Intelligence To Strengthen The Company’s Footprint Across Informal Channels. The BDR Acts As The Primary Link Between The Company, Distributors, And Informal Traders, Ensuring Consistent Product Availability, Competitive Pricing, And Effective Trade Marketing Execution.

Duties And Responsibilities
Identify, Profile, And Onboard New Informal Trade Opportunities (Markets, Bus Termini, Flea Markets, Tuckshops, Street Vendors, Growth Points.
Maintain An Updated Database Of Active And Potential Trading Outlets.
Build And Sustain Strong Relationships With Traders, Wholesalers, And Market Leaders.
Conduct Regular Visits To Understand Customer Needs And Introduce New Products.
Act As The First Point Of Contact For Trader Inquiries.
Execute Promotional Campaigns And Sampling Activities.
Ensure Adequate Product Visibility, Merchandising, And Display Space.
Support Brand-Building Initiatives In Informal Trade Channels.
Collaborate With Distributors And Wholesalers To Ensure Product Availability, Correct Pricing, And Timely Replenishment.
Identify And Escalate Supply Chain Gaps Affecting Sales Performance.
Monitor Competitor Activities (New Launches, Promotions, Pricing, Distribution).
Gather Customer Insights And Provide Weekly Intelligence Reports.
Collect Market Information Through Visits, Surveys, Whatsapp Groups, And Audits.
Submit Daily Call Reports And Weekly Market Updates.
Report Trader Concerns And Opportunities Within 24 Hours.
Respond Promptly To Trader And Distributor Issues.
Coordinate Internally To Resolve Stock-Outs, Pricing Discrepancies, Product Quality Concerns, And Distribution Challenges.

Qualifications And Experience
Diploma Or Degree In Marketing, Business Management, Sales, Or Related Field (Advantageous).
1–2 Years’ Experience In FMCG Sales, Route-To-Market Execution, Merchandising, Or Business Development.
Experience Working With Informal Trade Channels Highly Desirable.
Strong Understanding Of Harare’s Informal Trade Environment (CBD, Mbare, High Glen, Zindoga, Glen View, Kuwadzana, Chitungwiza, And Emerging Hubs).
Familiarity With FMCG Distribution And Trade Marketing Principles.
