Management Accountant

Role Overview
Our client is looking for a Management Accountant who will be responsible for financial control, costing, stock accounting, production analysis and management reporting across milling and snacks operations. The role will provide management with reliable information on product costs, production costs, stock, gross margins, waste, yield, production variances, budget versus actual performance and factory profitability.

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare annual, quarterly and monthly budgets, weekly reports, monthly management accounts covering revenue, cost of sales, gross profit, operating expenses, EBITDA, cash movements, working capital, stock, debtors, creditors and profitability by business segment.
• Maintain accurate costing for milling products including maize meal, grits, roller meal, super-refined meal, samp, bran and other products.
• Maintain accurate costing for snacks, including raw materials, oil, flavouring, packaging, labour, factory overheads and production costs.
• Analyse cost per kilogram, cost per case, gross margin per product and profitability by customer/channel.
• Monitor standard BOM versus actual consumption versus expected production versus actual production.
• Investigate excess raw material usage, excess oil consumption, packaging losses, production losses, yield differences, unexplained shortages, rework and waste.
• Monitor maize input, expected extraction, actual extraction, finished products, by-products and waste/variance.
• Analyse maize received, maize issued to production, expected output, actual output, product yield, bran and offal, waste and stock movements.
• Monitor raw materials, packaging, work-in-progress, finished goods, by-products, stock transfers, production issues, returns, damaged goods, adjustments and stock variances.
• Work closely with Stock Controllers while remaining financially independent of physical custody of stock.
• Report on cost per tonne, cost per kilogram, cost per production run, labour cost, energy cost, packaging cost, raw material cost and factory overheads.
• Identify whether production is becoming more profitable as volume increases.
• Support annual budgets, monthly forecasts, production cost forecasts, product margin forecasts, scenario analysis, breakeven analysis and capital investment analysis.

Required Experience & Qualifications
. Minimum 3–6 years' accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, FMCG, milling, food processing
or distribution.
• Strong management accounting and product costing experience.
• Strong Excel and accounting/ERP systems capability.
• Experience with stock and inventory accounting.
• Able to understand factory operations and translate operational data into financial information.
• Commercially minded, analytical and detail-oriented.
