Our client, a leading microfinance institution in the financial services industry, is seeking to recruit an Accountant with at least three years’ experience in a similar organization.
The Accountant will lead the finance team and provide strategic guidance on all financial matters. The role requires strong expertise in financial management, insurance accounting principles, and advanced analytical skills. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient financial operations, compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to the continued growth of the company.
Importantly, the successful candidate must also demonstrate strong proficiency with financial systems and technology platforms, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and innovation in financial reporting and management.
Main Duties:
- Oversee accounting operations across the institution, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare financial reports for management, the Board of Directors, and regulatory authorities.
- Develop annual budgets and produce financial forecasts and projections.
- Manage cash flow and liquidity to meet operational requirements.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent mismanagement.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and achieve satisfactory audit ratings.
- Collaborate with management to design financial strategies and provide decision support.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks while ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering professional growth and high performance.
- Leverage financial systems and technology platforms to enhance reporting, streamline processes, and drive operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or ICAZ.
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, ideally in the microfinance sector.
- Strong knowledge of insurance accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proven expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and cash management.
