Our client in the mining industry is looking to hire a Mining Manager. The incumbent shall play a pivotal role in executing the mine’s strategic objectives in alignment with the company’s long-term vision. This position is responsible for driving operational excellence, safety, cost control, and profitability across underground mining and development operations. The role ensures optimal resource allocation, infrastructure adequacy, and continuous improvement in mining practices.

Duties and Responsibilities
Manage all mining sections to meet waste and ore throughput targets safely and at correct grades.
Oversee underground and development operations to ensure production and development goals are achieved.
Align workforce planning with business size, budget, and mine plan requirements.
Develop and enforce daily, monthly, and annual operational execution plans.
Ensure efficient allocation of mining resources, measured by schedule compliance.
Champion cost-reduction initiatives through continuous improvement strategies.
Collaborate with Mining Technical Services for production planning and optimization.
Assess and budget for mining infrastructure improvements.
Enforce daily inspections of contractor operations to ensure compliance with standards, procedures, and legislation.
Ensure full compliance with ISO management systems: ISO 14001 (EMS), ISO 45001 (OH&S), and ISO 9001.
Chair incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Identify skills gaps and implement training, coaching, and mentoring programs for team development.

Qualifications and Experience
BSC (Hons) Degree in Mining Engineering.
Minimum of 15 years mining management experience, with at least 10 years in underground mining operations.
Possession of a Full Blasting License.
Proven experience managing large mining teams and headcount.
Extensive experience in underground mining and development projects.
Strong background in project management.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with practical solution development.
In-depth understanding of mining legislation and regulatory frameworks.
Solid grasp of the mine value chain and stakeholder dynamics.
Valid Class 4 Driver’s Licence.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional operations and prioritise diverse workloads.
Practical knowledge of business management principles including budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, and HR management.
