Duties And Responsibilities
Develop a Long-Term Production Strategy To Ensure a Consistent Quality And Reliable Supply Of Maize, Soya Beans, Sorghum And Lucerne Grass For Cattle Feed Production.
Ability To Plan And Implement Crop Rotation System To Maximize Yields.
Budgets, Controls And Coordinates All Machinery, Chemical, Irrigation And Labor Requirements Within His/her Farming Area.
Liaises With The Agronomy Department To Ensure All Pest, Disease And Weed Control Management Programs Are Executed, And All Agricultural Inputs Are Supplied Timeously.
Responsible For Planning, Implementing, Managing And Monitoring Of Labor Activities And Productivity In The Field.
Ensuring Seeds, Fertilizers, Pesticides, And Other Supplies Are Regularly Restocked.
Preparing Plans And Schedules For Crop Harvesting And Reducing Waste In The Process.
Perform Post-Season Yield Analysis To Evaluate The Effectiveness Of The Growing Area And Field And Give Recommendations To Agriculture General Manager.
Ensuring All Staff Adheres To Health And Safety Regulations.
Experience And Qualifications
Degree In Agriculture Or Equivalent Qualification From a Recognized Institution.
A Minimum Of 3 Years’ Working Experience On a Farm Growing Crops Like Maize, Soya Beans And Sorghum Is Required.
Leadership, Budgeting And Managerial Skills Are a Requirement.
Superb Communication And Interpersonal Skills.
Skills To Plan And Implement Cropping Programs.
Ability To Manage Time And Workload.
Computer Literate And Valid Driving License Added Advantage.
