Here is what you will be doing:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful applicant will among other key challenging aspects be responsible for:
Directing and managing plant operations in terms of production, maintenance and quality.
Coordinating plant activities through planning with sectional heads to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Preparing and controlling budgets.
Providing leadership and training to accomplish manufacturing goals and objectives.
Engaging in Cross – Functional Linkages in order to ensure continuity of operation in the most efficient and effective manner.
Ensuring plant capacity availability in terms of material, machinery, manpower, to meet market demand.
Ensuring all systems and procedures are adhered to by the production personnel.
Promoting a culture of innovation and continuous production process improvement.
Ensuring the safety and proper discipline of all employees in the production department.

The ideal applicant should possess the following minimum qualifications and attributes:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Process Engineering, Food Science and Technology or equivalent.
An MBA though not a prerequisite would be an added advantage
Professional Qualifications in World Class Manufacturing
Experience
At least 5 years working experience (managerial) in a similar environment with knowledge of the food industry, FMCG or bakery subsector being an advantage
Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements
Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs.
Exposure with managing a union environment
