The ideal candidate will oversee and manage development performance of the underground mining operations and ensuring compliance with all safety standards and practices. The incumbent will be responsible for upholding safety standard by scaling and meshing the roof and walls as per design in the development section.
Roles& Duties Include;
Monitor, coordinate, and report on all aspects of operations safety within the underground work area and report on specific safety issues.
Uphold operational standards of Mining to designed grade, width, and height.
Identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Having an engaging attitude with the Union.
Effective resolution of people issues in the development areas.
Management of the daily, weekly, and monthly schedule to ensure production targets are achieved or exceeded.
Management and supervision of personnel performance, training, and development.
Ensure relevant documentation is completed in a timely and efficient manner, to the agreed standard.
Maintain a close working relationship with service providers cross-functional relationships in the business.
Understanding and approving forward planning within the mining area.
Fulfil the duties and relieve Manager: Mining when required.
Adherence to and advising of sectional policies & procedures.
Adherence to all safety and health practices and promotion of good housekeeping on an ongoing basis.
Management of Contractors in his area of responsibility.
Education & Experience
BSc or B Tech in Mining Engineering.
A post graduate qualification will be highly advantageous.
Underground Mine Blasting Certificate.
Mine Overseer’s Certificate of Competency will be highly advantageous.
Minimum 7 years’ experience (preferably underground, hard rock environments)
Minimum 2-5 years in previous Underground Supervisor role, preferably at Shiftboss or higher level
Familiarity of ore body and technical mine software such as Xpac, Telpac, MineSight and MS Projects will be highly recommended.
First Line Management Skills will be an advantage.
Proven Project Management skills will be an advantage.
Professional English Proficiency.
Code 8 Driver’s License.
